KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Imam Ziaullah Khan
Imam Ziaullah Khan is Director of the Centre For Islamic Development in Halifax, Canada. Imam Ziaullah is also the Friday Prayer leader for the Muslim Students Association at Dalhousie University.
He is also host of a local radio show “Salam Halifax.” This show is aimed at presenting Islam to non-Muslims. As well, the show covers various social and political issues, geared at generating awareness of information not readily available through mainstream media. Imam Zia Khan is a speaker throughout Canada and Britain, as well as other countries. His travel engagements involve lectures for engaging with non-Muslims, education for Muslims, and T.V. and radio interviews.

Imam Ahmed Saad
Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed Saad, born into a family of scholars and Huffaz from northern Egypt. He finished the memorization of the whole Qur,an at the age of ten and studied traditional Islamic sciences at the hands of his father and then started the studies at Al-Azhar until he graduated from Al-Azhar University with BA in Islamic studies. He has started giving Khutbahs at the age of 15 and been involved in Da,wah as an Imam for the last 15 years. He has Ijazahs in various Qira’aat, Hadith books and many other Islamic texts.Imam Saad has toured the world as a lecturer and Imam; he visited Canada, Malaysia, Germany, Sweden, USA and settled in the UK after a few visits. Imam Saad is the Imam of North London Central Mosque.

Anas Altikriti
Anas Altikriti is the Chief Executive of The Cordoba Foundation. He was formerly a Post-Graduate Lecturer in Translation and Interpreting Studies and is currently pursuing his PhD in Political Studies at Westminster University in London. Anas Altikriti is a leading figure of the British Anti-War movement, and was President of the Muslim Association of Britain in 1994. He succeeded in negotiating the release of three Christian hostages in Iraq in 2006 and is active in mobilising young British Muslims towards more interaction with politics and media. Anas Altikriti often comments in the mainstream and satellite media (both Arabic and English) and presents the weekly «Politics and Beyond» program on Islam Channel. He also contributes with articles in the Guardian,s Comment is Free.
